The Storyteller and Content Creator for Youth Arts & Wellness is an emerging creative communicator skilled in visual storytelling, writing, and digital media. This role brings the “Teen Perspectives: Yesterday and Today" program—and related youth initiatives at the Minneapolis Institute of Art—to life for the public, especially audiences under 30.
Positioned at the intersection of art, wellness, and youth engagement, the role amplifies teen voices and promotes the healing power of creative expression through digital storytelling, social media, and multimedia content.
· Follow and document the Teen Perspectives journey in 2026, capturing behind-the-scenes insights, interviews, and personal reflections for social media and for an end-of-year anthology project.
· Design and produce visually engaging content—from concept to completion—across print, digital, and video platforms, including zines, posters, social media graphics, and short-form videos.
· Create social-first assets (carousels, stories, templates, videos & thumbnails), optimizing for platform trends and accessibility.
· Develop youth-led publications (such as zines or anthologies) and design assets for exhibitions, digital features, and public programs.
· Translate teen experiences into multimedia narratives that highlight art as a tool for healing, self-discovery, and community connection.
· Photograph programs and artworks as needed; edit and deliver assets to spec and on deadline.
· Partner across teams—including content marketing, social media, design, and programming—to distribute stories and assets across Mia’s channels and publications.
· Support programming with studio preparation and setup, visitor engagement, and act as studio assistant as needed. Act as liaison and night-of point of contact for internal and external partners.
· Act as a creative bridge between youth and public audiences, ensuring that teen-generated stories and artworks are visible, celebrated, and culturally relevant.
Requirements:
· No specific degree required. We prioritize a strong portfolio that demonstrates creative storytelling across print, social, and video.
· Non-traditional pathways (community projects, freelance work, internships, school publications, youth-led initiatives) are equally valued.
Skills/Experience:
· Visual + Editorial Storytelling: Concept to delivery across formats; strong writing for captions, short features, and interview prompts.
· Design for Print: Layout and typography; creating zines/anthologies; prepping files for print (bleeds, CMYK, packaging, proofing).
· Video Production: Shooting on mobile or mirrorless; editing short-form and 1–3 minute features; basic motion graphics and subtitles/captions.
· Social Content Creation: Platform-native production for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts; understanding trends, hooks, and youth culture.
· Tools: Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Adobe Express, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), plus Canva; mobile editors (e.g., CapCut).
· Photo: Event and documentary-style capture; color correction and export workflows.
· Collaboration: Comfortable co-creating with teens; clear communication with museum staff and partners.
· Organization: Manage multiple deadlines; maintain asset libraries, metadata, and permissions.
