Janitorial Services Supervisor 

Full-time, exempt

Salary: $65,000 – 76,000 per year

Estimated typical schedule: 3 p.m. – 11 p.m. Mon – Fri (with some variability for shift start time; additional hours as needed to support overnight and day teams)

Onsite; not eligible for relocation

 

The Job

Supervises and supports in cleaning with the janitorial crew in a manner that results in a clean and safe environment.

 

In this role, you will…

1. Oversee and manage all work of the janitorial crew

  • Establish cleaning schedules and assigns work to ensure that ongoing cleaning of the museum is accomplished
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure high standards are maintained.
  • Provide training in new products and cleaning techniques as required
  • Organize special assignments and work cadence for the crew to respond to special requests, circumstances, and events
  • Arrange workflow and coverage when janitorial crew is short-staffed
  • Order and restock supplies
  • Maintain Janitorial supply room in an organized and orderly fashion
  • Maintain cleanliness, care, and maintenance of commercial equipment
  • Respectfully guide and offer feedback to janitorial team as needed
  • Review ALL day and evening special events, communicates and plans for janitorial support before, during, and after as needed

2. Perform janitorial work 

  • Cleaning duties related to events turn over or support
  • Fill in and assist crew day-to-day 

3. Managerial administration

  • Schedule staff and approve timesheets
  • Handle personnel issues
  • Recruiting and hiring 
  • Quarterly check ins, annual performance reviews
  • Assist with training and orientation of new employees. 

4. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • 5+ years’ institutional janitorial service experience
  • 3+ years supervisory experience, preferably related to janitorial
  • Experience with wood and marble floor maintenance
  • Experience operating floor machines (see below) 
  • Must maintain a current knowledge of cleaning products and cleaning techniques for different surfaces 
  • Ability to navigate internal computer systems 

Equipment Operated: Buffers, scrubbers, extractors, vacuums and other general cleaning equipment.
