The Visitor Experience department is seeking friendly and welcoming volunteers to help
create meaningful experiences at the museum. Visitor Experience volunteers move
through out the museum to provide directions, promote programs and events at Mia.
Schedule:
Wednesday through Sunday, and Thursday evenings. 2-4 hours per week, every other
week or once per month.
9:45 AM – Noon
11:30 - 2PM
1:30 PM – 4 PM
Thursday evenings:
5:30 PM – 8 PM
In this role, you will...
• Be proactive and friendly to welcome all Mia audiences.
• Share information about Mia’s collection, programs, and amenities.
• Create exceptional visitor experiences.
Specific Requirements
• Commitment to volunteer a minimum of 3 total shifts (2.5 hours each) from
February through July 2026 with potential for additional hours.
• Attend a minimum of 4 hour training session, plus a daily update at the beginning
of each shift.
• Ability to maintain a generous spirit and positive presence in a fast-paced
environment.
• Ability to comfortably engage in conversation with all museum visitors.
• Comfortable using technology including iPads.
• Ability to move for extended periods of time throughout Mia.
• Proficiency in Spanish, Somali, Hmong, or ASL preferred.

Prospective volunteers must complete an application and may be contacted for an interview. Due to the limited number of available positions, not every applicant may be asked to participate. Notification of acceptance will follow within a few weeks.
